Its generative features are limited compared to a dedicated assistant, but its proofreading is still the most integrated across everyday apps.
ChatGPT: the drafting layer
ChatGPT is better suited to producing a first draft from a prompt — an email, an outline, a summary of a long document. It's not purpose-built for catching your own grammar slips the way Grammarly is, since it's generating new text rather than reviewing yours.
Using both together
The most common real-world setup: draft with ChatGPT, then run the result through Grammarly for a final polish pass. Neither tool fully replaces the other — they sit at different stages of the same writing process.
